In September of 2008, the young ladies began their secondary education at the
Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS), at which they were enrolled in the ARTS program. Throughout their five year tenure at the institution, both Ms. Merry and Ms. Castello have managed to acquire and maintain the requirements for being on the honor roll and had the privilege of being a proud member of the Elmore Stoutt High School's Honor Society. In 2013, both young ladies graduated from the institution with honors and a grade 1 certificate in hand. Currently, as proud members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, both Ms. Merry and Ms. Castello are enrolled in the Teacher Education program at the Hamilton Lavity Stoutt College (HLSCC), in hopes of becoming educators. Being enrolled in such a program has exposed both young ladies to various aspects of learning. Provided that, both Ms. Merry and Ms. Castello have come to a common stance: it is essential that students become 21st century learners. They deem that such learners should possess the following characteristics: engage in hands-on learning, view the teacher as a facilitator, multitask, possess metacognition and motivation, be technologically savvy, etc. This view, therefore, prompted the creation of this website that promotes the keys to 21st century skills: creating, connecting, collaborating, communicating, and learning. |
